About this blog

Pardon my english writing.

My name is Max, I live in Munich, an old city in the middle of old europe. Yes, I like design, but not only in Vitra-Showrooms. So I started to search design treasures of the last century at other, cheaper places. At flea-markets and communal waste-stations for example. It's not only because my budget is small. It's just so exciting to find something between damaged IKEA-beds and outsourced coffemachines, that shows a famous design-label, that has an interessting story or, most important: a simple and good form.

I'm not a collector, I don't go to the big design-auctions, I search only to have nice things in my appartement. Okay, my attic is already full with plastic-chairs and some bulky eames-look-a-likes and my girlfriend forces me, to put them on ebay. But first I'll show them to you, and thats why I've created this small blogg.

This fine Executive Swivel Chair was made by KNOLL INTERNATIONAL. I was surprised, how difficult it was to find out, who designed it. I'm now nearly sure, that Vincent Cafiero was the Designer - he is not so well known, but made some works for Knoll during the Sixties. I found this chair at an old office-building, which will be teared down in the next year. There was a one day market for the old office furniture, with also a lot of USM HALLER stuff - but my car was too small for these huge shelves. So I bought just two of these big leather chairs. A little too black for me, but great pieces of mid century design. It's fantastic how slim they're in the profile.
